Tragedy in Abia: 32-Year-Old Man Allegedly Dies by Suicide Along Umuahia Road
A somber atmosphere has gripped
residents of Olokoro-Umudike Road in Umuahia South LGA, Abia State, following
the suspected suicide of a 32-year-old man, Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu.
According to reports, the
deceased—who hailed from Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in the same local government
area—allegedly parked his vehicle by the roadside on the morning of Thursday,
April 17, 2025, before using his belt to hang himself from a nearby fence.
Eyewitnesses who discovered the
lifeless body hanging at the scene quickly raised an alarm, prompting the
arrival of the authorities. The tragic discovery left many residents and
passersby in shock.
DSP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson
for the Abia State Police Command, confirmed the incident to journalists,
stating:
“Yes, the incident happened. One
Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu from Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA was found
hanging on a fence along Olokoro-Umudike Road.”
She added that officers from the Ubakala
Police Division immediately responded to the scene. The body was later moved to
Madonna Mortuary for preservation and an autopsy.
“There was no sign of violence
on the body. Photographs were taken at the scene, and a preliminary
investigation is ongoing,” Chinaka said.
The motive behind the tragic act
remains unclear, as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances
surrounding Nwosu’s death.
