Tragedy in Ondo: 9-Year-Old Girl Burnt to Death After Being Locked in by Guardian
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO)
of Yaba Division, CSP Victor Olowolagba, has launched a full-scale
investigation into the tragic fire incident that claimed the life of a young
girl in the community.
Olowolagba, who personally led a
team of officers to the scene, confirmed that four individuals have been
invited for questioning as authorities work to uncover the cause of the blaze
and the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
He assured residents that the
investigation will be thorough and transparent, emphasizing the police’s
commitment to getting to the root of the matter.
The girl, who was reportedly ill
prior to the incident, has since been taken to an undisclosed morgue.
Reacting to the heartbreaking
development, the youth leader of the area, Comrade Akinbinuade Akinyemi,
expressed deep sorrow and called attention to the alarming frequency of fire
outbreaks in the community.
“This is a painful loss for all
of us,” he said. “We must begin to take preventive measures seriously to
avoid such tragedies in the future.”
