"Bring Him Home!" — John Obi Mikel Hopes Victor Osimhen Joins Chelsea
Former Chelsea star and Super
Eagles legend, John Obi Mikel, has voiced what many Nigerian football fans are
thinking he wants Victor Osimhen in the Premier League, but not at Manchester
United… at least not if they miss out on European football.
During a recent appearance on beIN
SPORTS’ Soccer Sunday Live, Mikel didn’t mince words. When asked about
Osimhen’s rumored move to Manchester United, he had a simple response:
“If that’s the case, then he
doesn’t go to United.”
With the Red Devils currently
battling inconsistency and a shaky league finish, their hopes for European
competition next season hang in the balance and for a player of Osimhen’s
caliber, that might not cut it.
Mikel, who knows Osimhen both
professionally and personally, hinted that the 25-year-old Napoli striker
(currently on loan at Galatasaray) has a soft spot for Chelsea.
While Mikel stopped short of
confirming any ongoing negotiations, he did say this much:
“I hope [he joins] somewhere in
the Premier League. I don’t know… we wait and see.”
Wherever he ends up, there's no
question that Osimhen is one of the most in-demand strikers in world football.
On loan at Galatasaray, the Nigerian forward has been tearing up the Süper Lig 21
goals and 4 assists in just 25 games and his form has scouts from England to
Spain on high alert.
His parent club Napoli is expected
to cash in this summer, and Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Manchester
United, and even Arsenal are keeping a close watch.
Chelsea fans would love nothing more than to see Osimhen in blue, bringing his trademark energy, goals, and Nigerian flair to Stamford Bridge. With Mikel seemingly laying groundwork and the striker open to the move, all signs point to a transfer saga heating up fast.
