Financial educator Kalu Aja took to social media to share his deep concern after spotting what he called "sachet bread" being sold at a local store. In a now-viral post on X (formerly Twitter), he shared a photo of half-sized loaves packaged and displayed for sale a desperate innovation meant to help struggling Nigerians afford a basic staple.

Kalu’s reaction was raw and emotional:

"Omo, this is shameful and painful at the same time. I commend the bakery for thinking outside the box. I weep for the eviscerated middle class."

Drawing a grim picture of the nation's economic decline, he added:

"If bread is sold in slices and spaghetti in bundles, then the poverty smells like a two-weeks-dead goat in a beautiful mansion."

In a country where the middle class once symbolized hope and aspiration, the sight of bread being sold in portions feels like a stark reminder of how deep the financial crisis runs.

Kalu ended his message with a chilling truth:

"God help you, because that’s where your only help will come from."

As inflation continues to choke everyday Nigerians, innovations like sachet bread may offer short-term relief — but they also highlight a much deeper, systemic problem that mere survival strategies cannot fix.
