Fugitive ‘Killaboi’ Extradited from Qatar to Nigeria Over Alleged Murder of 21-Year-Old Student
The Nigeria Police Force has
confirmed the successful extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly
known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria over the alleged
murder of 21-year-old Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.
According to a statement released
by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the fugitive was
brought back to Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025,
following collaborative efforts between the Federal Ministry of Justice,
INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, Force Headquarters, and Qatari
judicial authorities.
The extradition was initiated after
the victim’s family, through their legal representatives, filed a petition on September
29, 2024, prompting an INTERPOL-led investigation.
Investigations revealed that Nnayereugo,
who had been declared wanted, allegedly murdered Augusta, a first-class student
of Lead City University, at his home in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023. He then
fled the country and released a video confessing to the crime — a move
authorities say was intended to mislead and stall investigations.
After being declared wanted on
October 13, 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued. He was first apprehended
in Freetown, Sierra Leone, under the alias "Kanu Princeton Samuel",
but escaped during a prison break in November 2023.
Subsequent intelligence uncovered
his movements across West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, using forged
documents and multiple identities. He eventually settled in Doha, Qatar, in January
2025, operating under the name "Toure Abdoulaye" with a fake
Guinean passport.
Thanks to international
collaboration and biometric verification, INTERPOL NCB Abuja and INTERPOL NCB
Doha confirmed his identity. He was arrested by Qatari authorities in February
2025, and following a formal request by the Federal Ministry of Justice, his
extradition was approved.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP
Kayode Egbetokun, praised the effective collaboration between Nigerian and
Qatari authorities, INTERPOL, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar. He reassured
the public of the Police Force’s dedication to ensuring justice for Augusta and
to holding Nnayereugo accountable.
“The Nigeria Police Force
remains committed to fighting transnational crime and delivering justice,”
the IGP stated.
