Katy Perry Breaks Down in Tears After Emotional Space Flight with All-Female Blue Origin Crew
On Monday, April 14, pop superstar
Katy Perry made history—and got emotional—after embarking on an unforgettable
journey to space aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard mission (NS-31).
Perry joined an all-female crew
that included Jeff Bezos’ fiancée and journalist Lauren Sanchez, television
host Gayle King, film producer Kerianne Flynn, NASA rocket scientist Aisha
Bowe, and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen. The 10-minute suborbital trip
marked a powerful milestone in space travel and left Perry overwhelmed with
gratitude and emotion.
“I feel super connected to love,” Perry said through tears after touching down. “This experience has shown me you never know how much love is inside of you, how much love you have to give, and how loved you are—until the day you launch.”
One of the most heartfelt moments
came when Perry spoke about her 4-year-old daughter, Daisy, who watched her
mother’s journey from Earth. The singer brought along a symbolic daisy flower
on the flight as a tribute.
“Daisies are common flowers, but
they grow through any condition,” Perry explained, holding back tears. “They
grow through cement, through cracks, through walls. They’re resilient,
powerful, strong… They remind me of our beautiful Earth and of God’s smile.
There’s magic in even the simplest things.”
“It wasn’t about me or my music. It
was about us. About creating space for future women, about belonging, and
honoring this wonderful world we’re lucky to call home,” she said.
Upon landing, Perry immediately
kissed the ground, describing the experience as “second only to being a mom.”
She added, “It was hard for me to go because that’s all my love right there—my
daughter. But I wanted to model courage, worthiness, and fearlessness for her.
This has filled me up in ways I can’t even explain.”
Before liftoff, the crew completed their final training at the Blue Origin launch site in Van Horn, Texas. Over the weekend, they proudly revealed their custom Blue Origin flight suits on social media—navy jumpsuits adorned with NASA patches, the Blue Origin logo, and each woman’s last name.
Sanchez, who played a key role in
redesigning the suits, told The New York Times, “Usually, these suits
are made for men and tailored down. We wanted something elegant—with a little
spice.”
From motherhood to music and now
outer space, Katy Perry continues to show the world what it means to dream big
and lead with love.
