Peter Obi Visits Viral Teen, Quadri Alabi, Vows to Support His Education(Photos)
Labour Party’s 2023 presidential
candidate, Peter Obi, on Friday, April 18, paid a heartfelt visit to Quadri
Alabi, the 17-year-old boy who became an internet sensation during the last
general election after a photo of him standing boldly in front of Obi’s convoy
went viral.
Earlier this year, Quadri faced a
troubling turn of events when he was accused of robbery and arraigned before a
Lagos Magistrate Court in Apapa. The police secured an order to remand him at
the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kirikiri, sparking concern among many
Nigerians.
His plight gained renewed attention
on social media last week, leading to a wave of public outcry. Human rights
lawyer Inibehe Effiong took up the case, and with his intervention, Quadri was
released on April 17.
Following his release, Peter Obi
wasted no time in visiting the teenager. During the visit, he offered his
personal support, promising to help Quadri gain access to training and
educational opportunities so he can rebuild his future.
According to Effiong, Obi’s gesture
was both compassionate and inspiring, reinforcing the importance of giving
second chances and standing by the youth.
