It’s not every day that a Nigerian influencer ruffles feathers in the music scene but Chioma Ikoku, better known as Chioma GoodHair, did just that, and she’s not backing down.

Following the recent Headies Awards, the entrepreneur and lifestyle maker took to Snapchat to deliver an unfiltered review of the night’s performances and her verdict? A bold nod to Tanzanian heartthrob Juma Jux as “undoubtedly the best performer of the night.”

Chioma didn’t stop there. While sharing a clip of Jux commanding the stage with effortless energy and style, she threw some serious shade at Nigerian performers, claiming many are just not bringing their A-game when it matters most.

"Majority are terrible and have no business being on stage," she wrote, calling out what she sees as a lack of effort and showmanship from some homegrown acts.

Her comments have stirred reactions across social platforms, with some agreeing that the Nigerian music scene while rich with talent sometimes prioritizes hype over polished stagecraft. Others feel Chioma’s comments were a bit too sweeping, considering the global success of Nigerian artists.

Still, it raises a conversation many fans and critics have tiptoed around: Are performances from some of Nigeria’s biggest stars living up to the standard of their global fame?

Known for his smooth Swahili R&B vibes, Juma Jux may not have the same mainstream buzz in Nigeria as some Afrobeats giants, but his performance at the Headies is proof that talent knows no borders. With a mix of vocal control, presence, and artistry, he reminded fans of the power of a truly well-delivered live set.
