One-Year-Old Boy K!lled by Hit-and-Run Driver During Easter Service
A heartbreaking incident occurred
on Easter Sunday at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State,
where a one-year-old boy, Desmond Adewole, was tragically k!lled by a
hit-and-run driver.
According to eyewitnesses, the
driver—believed to be a worshipper attending the Easter service—accidentally
ran over the child in the church premises and fled the scene. The boy, who had
unknowingly wandered out of the church in search of his mother, was later found
lifeless on the ground, in what appeared to be the aftermath of a fatal vehicle
impact.
A member of the church, speaking
under the condition of anonymity, recounted the sorrowful discovery and
expressed shock that such a tragic event could unfold during a religious
gathering meant to celebrate hope and renewal.
Confirming the incident, the
spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu, stated that the
police have launched a full investigation to identify and apprehend the driver
responsible.
The community remains in mourning
as calls for justice and improved safety within public and religious spaces
continue to grow.
