Prosecutor Accidentally Plays Nude Video in Ex-Colombian President's Court Trial
A Colombian courtroom was left in shock after a prosecutor
mistakenly played an explicit clip during the bribery trial of former President
Álvaro Uribe.
Uribe, 72, who is facing charges of bribery and procedural
fraud, remained stone-faced as the inappropriate video was accidentally
projected in court on Friday, March 7.
The prosecutor had intended to present audio recordings of
conversations between lawyers Juan Jose Salazar and Diego Cadena, both of whom
were part of Uribe’s legal team and are implicated in the case. However,
instead of the expected evidence, the courtroom was briefly subjected to a clip
featuring a naked woman.
As soon as the inappropriate clips appeared, Orjuela rushed
to apologize, acknowledging that they were unintentionally selected from
a batch of 57 files.
“Your Honor, my apologies. We wanted to show everything that
[Diego Cadena] had sent, but we didn’t foresee that this would happen,” she said with an awkward chuckle.
Despite her efforts to maintain composure, the judge and some
of the victims' lawyers burst into laughter as a second inappropriate video
played.
Court officials quickly intervened, but the mishap had
already caused a stir in the high-profile trial.
The former president, who led Colombia from 2002 to 2010,
faces a potential 12-year sentence for bribery and an additional 8 years for
procedural fraud if convicted. However, Colombian law allows for sentences to
be served concurrently.
Uribe has denied all charges, maintaining that the case
against him is politically motivated.
