FG Declares March 31 and April 1 Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr Celebration
The Federal Government of Nigeria
has officially declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public
holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
This announcement was made on Wednesday,
March 26, 2025, by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement
issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Minister Tunji-Ojo congratulated
all Muslim faithful across the country on the successful completion of the holy
month of Ramadan, recognizing their dedication and spiritual discipline
throughout the fasting period.
Eid-el-Fitr is a significant
Islamic festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide after observing 29 or 30 days
of Ramadan fasting. The celebration marks the end of the holy month, with
prayers, feasting, and acts of charity.
With the public holidays in place,
Nigerians can expect a nationwide break as Muslims observe Eid prayers, family
gatherings, and communal festivities.
