Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara Denies Allegations of Militant Ties
Suspended Rivers State Governor,
Siminalayi Fubara, has strongly denied allegations linking him to militant
groups, dismissing recent social media posts and videos as fake and malicious
attempts to incite unrest in the state.
In a statement issued by his Chief
Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara condemned the circulation of
fabricated videos, which falsely depict explosions at oil and gas facilities in
Rivers State.
The statement clarified that affected
communities have debunked these claims, assuring the public that all critical
infrastructure remains intact and fully operational.
“For the avoidance of doubt,
Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group, does not
contemplate any such association, and has no reason to encourage any criminal
elements to undertake actions that threaten peace, security, or the economy,”
the statement read.
Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to
peace and stability in Rivers State, emphasizing that governance and
development can only thrive in a secure and stable environment.
He also warned against political
actors attempting to exploit the ongoing crisis for ulterior motives.
As the political crisis in Rivers
State continues, Fubara’s suspension and the appointment of a Sole
Administrator by President Bola Tinubu remain highly controversial. The
situation has sparked nationwide debates on constitutionality, governance, and
political interference.
