Governor Siminalayi Fubara Vacates Rivers State Government House Amid Political Crisis
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi
Fubara, has officially vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt, along
with his family and security details.
Reports indicate that the governor moved
out on the morning of Wednesday, March 19, just hours after President Bola
Ahmed Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State.
The State of Emergency, announced
on March 18, resulted in the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and all
members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for a six-month period.
President Tinubu justified the
decision by citing the prolonged political crisis, constitutional breaches, and
security threats in the state. This development has further deepened the ongoing
tensions between rival political factions in Rivers State.
While the Governor’s next steps
remain uncertain, his exit from the Government House signals a major shift in
the state’s political landscape as the newly appointed Sole Administrator, Vice
Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd.), assumes control of the state’s affairs.
The situation continues to unfold,
with stakeholders across the country closely monitoring the implications of the
federal intervention in Rivers State.
