British Airways Crew Member Arrested in Singapore Over Alleged Assault on Colleague
A British Airways crew member has
reportedly been arrested in Singapore on allegations of sexually assaulting a
fellow stewardess during a layover between flights.
According to Mail Online,
the unnamed suspect was taken into custody after the alleged incident, which
occurred following a night out.
In response to the situation, two
female BA staff members have been flown back to the UK, while airline
executives have traveled to Singapore to liaise with local authorities and
provide support.
A source cited by The Sun
stated, “Everyone is in shock. The accused steward has been with BA for
years. This incident is now under Singapore’s jurisdiction, posing a major
challenge for aviation officials.”
Under Singaporean law, individuals
convicted of r@pe involving a victim over the age of 14 face up to 20 years in
prison and may also be subject to fines or corporal punishment, including
caning.
This incident follows recent
controversies involving British Airways crew members. In 2023, former pilot
Mike Beaton was dismissed after boasting about snorting cocaine off a topless
woman during a layover. Despite the scandal, he was later reinstated as a
pilot, sparking widespread debate.
British Airways has yet to release
an official statement on the latest case.
