Swizz Beatz Reveals the Secret to His Marriage with Alicia Keys
As Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys
approach their 15th wedding anniversary, the renowned music producer has opened
up about the key to their lasting love.
In an exclusive interview with Us
Weekly, Swizz, 46, revealed that friendship, communication, and mutual respect
have been the foundation of their relationship. Surprisingly, he also shared
that he and Alicia, 44, have never had an argument throughout their marriage.
"Marriage is definitely a
big word, but look at it like your best friend," Swizz said while
discussing his mezcal brand, The Producer, and its partnership with Hard Rock
International.
He emphasized the importance of open
dialogue, revealing that their children have never witnessed them yelling or
cursing at each other.
"The communication is
there. We’ve never had an argument. Since we’ve been together, our kids [have]
never seen it; never seen us raise our voice [or] never seen us yell. Never
seen us curse at each other. Why? Because of communication," he
explained.
The couple first met as teenagers
and later tied the knot in July 2010. They share two sons, Egypt, 14, and
Genesis, 10. While they do disagree on things, Swizz says they handle it with
mutual understanding rather than confrontation.
"When you yell at each
other, no one is really listening anyway. Nothing gets solved in each other’s
yelling," he said.
He also dismissed the idea of "owning"
a partner, stating that Alicia is her own boss, and he is his own boss—a
dynamic that makes their relationship thrive.
"People think they can own
people. You can’t. It’s not property that you own. There’s a whole human,
right?" he explained. "So, we’re very clear on that. That’s
how we make magic when we come together."
Aside from his two children with
Alicia, Swizz Beatz is also a father to three older children—Prince Nasir (24),
Kasseem Jr. (18), and Nicole (16)—from previous relationships.
As they approach this milestone
anniversary, Swizz and Alicia continue to inspire fans with their strong bond
and unwavering partnership.
