Divorce Strikes Again: Singer Sia and Husband Call it Quits, Ending 2-Year Marriage
Australian singer-songwriter Sia
has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Daniel Bernad, after two
years of marriage.
According to court documents
obtained by PEOPLE on Wednesday, March 19, the couple separated on March
18, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.
The filing also revealed a
previously undisclosed piece of personal news—Sia, 49, quietly welcomed her
third child, and her first with Bernad, 11 months ago. The baby, named Somersault
Wonder Bernad, was born on March 27, 2024.
As part of the divorce proceedings,
the Chandelier singer is requesting legal and physical custody of their
child, though she is open to allowing Bernad visitation rights. However, she
has also requested that the court deny spousal support to her ex.
Sia and Bernad’s love story led to
a private, candlelit wedding in May 2023 at Villa Olivetta—a stunning
property owned by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in Portofino,
Italy. The intimate ceremony was attended by only six guests.
This marks Sia’s second marriage.
She was previously married to filmmaker Erik Anders Lang, tying the knot
at her Palm Springs home in August 2014, just two months after announcing their
engagement. The couple divorced in December 2016.
