Rivers State Head of Service Resigns as Administrator Appoints New SSG
The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice-Admiral (rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has confirmed the resignation of the Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, describing the development as unfortunate.
In a statement, Ibas acknowledged the immense contributions of Dr. Nwaeke during his short tenure and expressed best wishes for his future endeavors.
Following Nwaeke’s resignation, Dr.
Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary, Welfare, Office of the Head of Service,
has been appointed in an acting capacity until a new Head of Service is named.
Congratulating Dr. Brown, Ibas
assured River’s residents of his commitment to neutrality, peace, and stability
in the state.
Additionally, Ibas announced the
appointment of Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, a renowned legal expert and
administrator, as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
According to an official statement,
Prof. Worika’s extensive experience, academic background, and policy expertise
made him the ideal candidate for the role. His appointment takes immediate
effect. Hails from: Okrika, Rivers State. Education: Ph.D. in International
Environmental and Comparative Petroleum Law & Policy from the University of
Dundee, UK.
Prof. Ibibia Worika brings a distinguished
career spanning academia, international legal practice, and high-level policy
advisory roles. His expertise will play a crucial role in supporting the Sole
Administrator in fulfilling the mandate set by President Bola Tinubu for Rivers
State.
“Professor Worika’s wealth of
experience in legal scholarship, public policy, and governance will be
instrumental in driving the administration’s agenda. His appointment
underscores our dedication to excellence in public service,” the statement
read.
Vice Admiral Ibas reaffirmed his commitment
to utilizing Rivers State’s rich human capital to promote peace, stability, and
security.
