US Embassy Warns of Possible Travel Ban for Overstaying Visitors
The US Embassy in Nigeria has
issued a stern warning to travelers, cautioning that those who overstay their
permitted visit in the United States could face a travel ban.
In a post shared on X (formerly
Twitter), the embassy emphasized that there are no excuses for violating
immigration rules, stating that consular officers have full access to visitors'
immigration history.
"There is no such thing as
an honest mistake when it comes to overstaying your visa. Consular officers
will know about past violations, and this could impact future travel
plans," the statement read.
Travelers who remain in the US
beyond their authorized stay risk being denied future visas, facing entry
restrictions, or even receiving a permanent travel ban.
The embassy advised visitors to
adhere strictly to their visa conditions and depart the country before their
visa expires to avoid complications.
With the US tightening its
immigration policies, travelers are urged to stay informed and comply with all visa
regulations. Violating the terms of a visitor visa could lead to serious long-term
consequences.
