Miracle or Medical Anomaly? Teen with No Vagina Conceives via Oral Sex
In a shocking medical case, a
15-year-old girl from Lesotho, Southern Africa, became pregnant despite having
a rare birth defect that made it impossible for her to conceive through
traditional means.
The teen, who remained unnamed,
visited the hospital complaining of abdominal pain, only to discover she was
nine months pregnant and on the verge of giving birth. Further examination
revealed she had distal vaginal atresia, a rare condition where the vaginal
opening is absent, affecting only one in 4,000 to 10,000 newborn girls.
Doctors were perplexed, as this
condition should have made it impossible for her to become pregnant without
assisted reproductive technology like IVF. Moreover, the condition also made
vaginal delivery impossible, and her son had to be delivered via C-section.
After questioning the girl, medics
learned she had visited the hospital nine months prior for a stab wound to her
stomach region shortly after engaging in oral sex. She claimed her ex had
attacked her upon discovering her with her new boyfriend.
In a stunning conclusion, medics
believed the sperm she swallowed had traveled to her reproductive organs
through the stab wound, resulting in conception. However, there was still one
missing piece: how the sperm survived the digestive system's acidity.
The answer lay in the girl's
malnourishment at the time, which reduced her digestive system's acidity,
allowing the sperm to reach her uterus via the knife wound.
The final evidence supporting this
theory was the boy's resemblance to his father, the man she was intimate with
before the attack. Interviews with the girl revealed she was aware of her
condition and preferred oral sex due to "disappointing attempts at
conventional intercourse."
