Drama at Lagos Assembly as Impeached Speaker Obasa Storms Complex with Armed Security
The political tension at the Lagos
State House of Assembly escalated on February 27, as Mudashiru
Obasa, the impeached Speaker, stormed the Assembly complex accompanied by a
heavily armed security team.
Obasa, who was removed from
office last month, arrived at the House of Assembly flanked by over
11 police officers. Ignoring his fellow lawmakers who were gathered in the
Assembly garden discussing the ongoing crisis, he proceeded directly to the Speaker’s
office.
This development comes just hours
after security details assigned to Meranda Mojisola, the newly appointed
Speaker, were abruptly withdrawn. The move has left both the Speaker
and the legislative building vulnerable, raising serious concerns over the
stability of the Assembly.
As the power tussle within the Lagos
State House of Assembly intensifies, all eyes remain on the next steps of
the warring factions and the potential impact on governance in the state.
