Love Me Jeje, Love Me Grammy: Tems Wins Second Grammy in Best African Music Performance Category
Nigerian singer Tems has
secured her second Grammy Award, winning in the Best
African Music Performance category for her song Love Me Jeje.
This marks her second Grammy win,
following her first award for her contribution to Future’s chart-topping
hit Wait For U.
Taking the stage, an emotional Tems
expressed gratitude, saying, ““Wow, dear God. Thank you so much for putting me
on this stage and bringing me this team.
“Tomorrow is my mum’s birthday and
this is her first Grammys. I just want to thank you ma because she has really
done a lot for me and my brother.
In this year’s category, Love
Me Jeje triumphed over strong competition, including:
- Yemi Alade – Tomorrow
- Asake – MMS
- Chris Brown feat. Davido & Lojay – Sensational
- Burna Boy – Higher
Notably, all nominated songs in
this category were from Nigerian artists, showcasing the country’s
dominance in the African music scene.
The Best African Music
Performance category was introduced just last year, with South
African sensation Tyla taking the inaugural award for her hit
song Water.
With this latest win, Tems
continues to solidify her position as one of Africa’s most influential and
globally recognized artists.
