BREAKING: FCT Police Rescue Kidnapped PDP Organizing Secretary in Daring Operation
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
Police Command has confirmed the release of Hon. Shekolo Samuel, the PDP
Organizing Secretary, who was abducted by armed men along the Guzape–Abacha
Barracks bypass in Abuja.
Shekolo, a former legislative aide
to Senator Philips Tanimu Aduda, was kidnapped along with several other
motorists and passengers on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at about 11:31 a.m.
Confirming the development in a
statement on Tuesday, February 27, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Tunji Disu,
announced that Shekolo was freed at 1:33 a.m. following joint efforts by the
Police, Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters, and vigilantes.
The victim was released in the Yelwa
Forest area of Nasarawa State, near Gbagalape village, Nyanya Mine.
In addition to Shekolo’s release,
security forces also secured the freedom of Nsiyan Chalse Eyang, who was kidnapped
on February 23 at around 8:30 p.m. near the hills in Nyanya. He regained his
freedom on February 26 after a similar operation.
The FCT Police Command has assured
residents that efforts are being intensified to track and apprehend the fleeing
kidnappers. The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation
Department (SCID) for further investigation.
CP Tunji Disu urged Abuja residents
to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies to
ensure public safety.
With rising concerns about insecurity
in the FCT, the swift rescue of the victims highlights the ongoing battle
against criminal elements in the nation’s capital.
