Conflicting Reports Emerge Over US-Based Nigerian Doctor’s Tragic Suicide
The tragic death of Dr. Ikenna Erinne, a US-based Nigerian cardiologist, has sparked conflicting reports regarding the circumstances that led to his demise.
According to online sources, the 36-year-old doctor from Anambra State allegedly took his own life on Sunday, January 26, following a court ruling that ordered him to pay $15,000 in monthly child support to his ex-wife. Friends of the deceased claimed that the ruling placed an unbearable financial burden on him, ultimately leading him to take his life.
However, Francis Van-Lare, a
Nigerian businessman and former husband of relationship coach Amara Nwosu, has
provided a different account. Van-Lare revealed that Dr. Erinne was previously
married to his daughter, Suzette Chibuogu, and was the father of her children.
According to Van-Lare, the tragic
event was not solely about the financial implications of the custody battle. He
alleged that on the day of the incident, Dr. Erinne visited Suzette’s home,
held her, their children, and their nanny at gunpoint for three hours.
Van-Lare claimed that the situation escalated when the nanny managed to escape and alert the police. Upon the police’s arrival, Dr. Erinne reportedly chose to end his life rather than face legal consequences. Van-Lare stated that Erinne was facing "three counts of kidnapping with a deadly weapon," each carrying a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
In the wake of his death, the internet has been flooded with tributes from those who knew Dr. Erinne personally. Many described him as a calm, brilliant man, mourning his sudden and tragic passing. However, the conflicting narratives surrounding his final moments have left many questioning what truly happened.
