Broken Trust, Broken Bottle: Woman Stabs Boyfriend Over Question About Her Whereabouts
A domestic dispute turned violent
in Area 1, Mhlasini, KwaZulu-Natal, after a man was assaulted and
stabbed with a broken beer bottle by his girlfriend. The shocking incident
occurred on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
According to reports, the argument
erupted when the man confronted his girlfriend about her whereabouts the
previous night after she failed to return home. The discussion quickly
escalated into a heated altercation.
During the dispute, the woman
allegedly grabbed a beer bottle and began attacking her partner. The
bottle shattered during the assault, but she continued her attack, using the
broken glass to stab him multiple times in the shoulder and arm before
fleeing the scene.
Members of Reaction Unit South
Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene around 11:14 AM after
receiving a distress call. Upon arrival, officers met with the injured man, who
recounted the ordeal. Despite his injuries, he declined to press charges
and opted to seek medical attention privately.
The disturbing incident has sparked
discussions on domestic violence, with many calling for greater
awareness and support for victims—regardless of gender. While violence
against women is widely condemned, cases of men suffering abuse in
relationships often go unreported due to stigma and fear of not being
taken seriously.
As authorities investigate the
matter, the suspect remains at large. However, since no formal charges
have been filed, it remains uncertain if legal action will be taken against
her.
