Life's Cruel Irony: Nigerian Woman Dies Months After Writing About Her Own Burial
Friends and family have been thrown
into deep mourning following the passing of a young Nigerian woman, Safe
Na’andak Pankyes, from Plateau State.
Safe, who tied the knot with her
husband, Pankyes Galak, on March 30, 2024, tragically passed away less than a
year after their wedding. Her sudden demise has left loved ones heartbroken,
with many reflecting on her haunting final message.
In a now-viral Facebook postdated
September 4, 2024, Safe made a heartfelt plea to be celebrated while she was
still alive, rather than after her passing. She also spoke about how people who
had the opportunity to support her in life would only come forward to
contribute towards her burial.
"A day will come my
pictures will fly all over social media tagged RIP. Both those I've impacted
directly or indirectly will shed natural and artificial tears. Only myself will
be buried down the dark shallow breathless. People who had the opportunity to
help impact me positively and show love to me but didn't, will come out making
contributions to plan a burial ceremony for me. Please, celebrate me now that
I'm alive because when I go down, I wouldn’t be here to see all that you will
do when I die. Thank you once again," she wrote.
Her words have now taken on a
painful significance as tributes flood social media following confirmation of
her death on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
May her soul rest in peace.
