Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing
of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, on Monday, February 17,
2025. The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be

Born in Kiagbodo, Delta State,
Chief Clark received his early education in Effurun, Okrika, and Afugbene,
before attending the Government Teacher Training College, which later
became Delta State University, Abraka. He started his career as a school
teacher before traveling abroad to earn a law degree.
Clark was deeply involved in
Nigeria’s governance during the military era. He worked closely with military
governor Samuel Ogbemudia and served as an adviser to David Ejoor,
the then military governor of the Mid-Western Region in 1966. By 1975,
he was appointed Federal Commissioner of Information under General
Yakubu Gowon’s administration.
Over the years, he became a strong
advocate for the rights of the Niger Delta, playing a pivotal role in
shaping discussions around resource control and regional development.
Chief Edwin Clark’s decades of
public service and unwavering commitment to the Niger Delta region
made him a revered figure in Nigerian politics. His passing marks the end of an
era, but his legacy of advocacy, leadership, and statesmanship will
continue to inspire future generations.
May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
