John Dumelo Takes on New Role: Deputy Food and Agriculture Minister
Ghanaian actor, farmer, and
entrepreneur John Kofi Setor Dumelo has been named the Deputy
Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture in Ghana. His appointment reflects
his passion for agriculture and commitment to youth empowerment in the sector.
Currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Dumelo has been an outspoken advocate for policies that support local farmers and promote sustainable agriculture.
Born on February 3, 1984, Dumelo began his academic journey at Christ the King School in Accra before attending Achimota School, where he was actively involved in the Drama Club. He later pursued Civil Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and furthered his studies at GIMPA's School of Public Service and Governance.
Dumelo’s career began in the entertainment industry, starring in the 1992 movie Baby Thief as a child actor. Over the years, he expanded his interests beyond acting, establishing himself as a successful farmer engaged in both crop and animal production. His dedication to agriculture has positioned him as a role model for young Ghanaians looking to explore farming as a viable career path.
With his new role in government,
Dumelo is expected to bring fresh perspectives to Ghana’s agricultural
policies, driving innovation and sustainability in the sector.
