Heartbreak & Justice: Fiokee Mourns Sister’s Alleged Death from Domestic Violence
Renowned Nigerian guitarist Ifiok
Effanga, popularly known as Fiokee, is grieving the loss of his sister, Ememe
Effanga, who allegedly died due to domestic abuse.
In an emotional Instagram post on Saturday,
February 8, 2025, Fiokee expressed his devastation, revealing that he was unaware
of the abuse she had been enduring in silence. His heartfelt message also
served as a plea to victims of domestic violence, urging them to speak up
before it’s too late.
My heart is shattered. I can’t
believe I’m writing this, but my sister is gone. She was taken from us by
someone who claimed to love her. I had no idea she was suffering in silence.
She never spoke about the abuse, and now it’s too late,” Fiokee wrote.
He continued, calling on women in
abusive relationships to break the silence:
“If you are in an abusive
relationship, please, I beg you—speak up. I know it’s not easy. I know fear can
make you stay quiet. But silence can be deadly. There are people who care,
people who will help you. Please don’t wait until it’s too late.”
While Fiokee believes justice must
take its course, he painfully acknowledged that no punishment can bring his
sister back. However, he hopes her story will save at least one life, ensuring
that her death is not in vain.
Before her passing, Ememe shared an
uplifting Facebook post on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Alongside photos from a
church program, she posted a motivational message about self-improvement,
faith, and positive thinking:
“Change your imaginations. Work
on yourself. Develop yourself. Think big. Think great. Think success. Think
life. Think positive. As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Focus on God,
believe in Him. And He says, ‘Blessed is she that believed, for there shall be
a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord’ (Luke 1:45).”
Her last words were filled with
faith and hope, making her tragic passing even more heartbreaking.
