Supermodel Winnie Harlow is officially off the market! The 30-year-old got engaged to NBA star Kyle Kuzma on February 13 in a breathtakingly romantic proposal that took place mid-flight.

The couple shared their exciting news on Instagram on February 18, posting a series of dreamy photos of them aboard a private jet, with Harlow flashing her stunning engagement ring. But the real magic happened in the details, which they exclusively revealed to Vogue.

Kuzma pulled out all the stops for the special moment, chartering a private jet and filling it with red roses, balloons, chocolates, and champagne. The couple was heading off for a planned vacation to Turks and Caicos, and Harlow initially thought the extravagant setup was just a romantic Valentine’s Day gesture.

“For a split second in my head, I thought, 'This would be so cute if this was an engagement,'” Harlow recalled. “But I’m also not the type of person who wants to guess or wants to spoil a surprise. So it just was a fleeting thought in my head.”

As it turned out, Kuzma had an even bigger surprise in store. Once they were seated, he began reading a heartfelt poem, and as he reached the final line, he asked the big question: "Will you marry me?" He then presented her with a breathtaking 8.5-carat, oval-cut diamond ring—one he had spent three months designing himself.

“I never really asked her what type of ring she liked or anything,” Kuzma revealed. “I just wanted to draw a picture of what I felt resembled her—something elegant, timeless, and simplistic at the same time.”

After landing in Turks and Caicos, an elated Harlow immediately began calling loved ones to share the news. However, her sister didn’t answer, and her mother abruptly ended the call, claiming she didn’t have time to talk. Confused but still on cloud nine, she arrived at their villa—only to discover the reason behind their odd responses. Both her and Kuzma’s families were already there, waiting to celebrate with them in person.

The night was capped off with an elegant beachfront dinner and a spectacular fireworks display, making the moment even more magical.

Harlow and Kuzma’s romance dates back to early 2020, when they connected online during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, their story almost never started—Kuzma had initially reached out to Harlow on Instagram in 2019, but she never saw his message. Once they finally began talking, they quickly became inseparable.

After months of non-stop conversations, Harlow took a leap of faith and moved from New York City to Los Angeles to be with Kuzma, who was then playing for the L.A. Lakers. Their love story has only grown stronger, leading to this unforgettable engagement.

Now, the couple is “over the moon” as they begin planning their wedding and their future together.
