The public's fervent interest in the divorce between businesswoman May Yul-Edochie and actor Yul Edochie has prompted a stern yet informative response from May's lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye. In a detailed Facebook post today, May 25th, Ugwuonye directly addressed those "overly fixated" on the timing of the divorce, urging them to exercise patience and understanding.

Dispelling rumors, Ugwuonye confirmed that the divorce proceedings are indeed "in progress." He explained that a divorce case involves four distinct issues: the dissolution of the marriage and right to remarry, arrangements for the children, division of marital property, and claims for damages against Judy for adultery with Yul.

He highlighted a crucial point: "Many of you appear to overlook issues (2) and (3) while fixating solely on issue (1)... Among these issues, (1) is the easiest to resolve; however, it cannot be addressed until (2) and (3) are settled." Ugwuonye stated that significant progress has been made in May's case, with agreements already reached on child custody, support, and property division. This leaves the formal dissolution and the damages claim against Judy as the remaining hurdles.

The lawyer minced no words in expressing his frustration with the public's "persistent focus" on the final divorce date, calling it a "lack of understanding" that can be "quite frustrating." He pointed out that May is currently "free to live her life," and her inability to remarry is not her immediate concern. Ugwuonye suggested that this intense focus might stem from a desire for "gossip," or hoping for May to find a new partner for comparison.

He firmly called for patience, assuring that "The lawyers are competent, and the case is progressing." He cautioned against insulting his team for not accelerating the process, emphasizing that such behavior is "disruptive."

Finally, Ugwuonye provided an update on May's current situation, portraying her as stable and content: "May is doing well. She has no plans to remarry at this time... She has her children, is in control of the family house, and is doing well economically. She appreciates your support, but without additional pressures on her lawyers."

This powerful statement from May's legal representation serves as a candid and necessary reminder about the realities of legal processes and the importance of respecting privacy, even amidst public interest.
