Coalition Meeting with Atiku, Obi, Amaechi Erupts in Chaos!(Video)
A high-stakes coalition meeting in Abuja, gathering political
heavyweights like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party's 2023
presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi
Amaechi, took an unexpected turn this weekend, descending into chaotic scenes
as delegates from Jigawa State dramatically disrupted the proceedings.
Held at the prestigious Abuja Continental Hotel, the meeting was
reportedly running smoothly until a pivotal moment: former Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, announced that a delegation from
Taraba was about to address the gathering on behalf of their state.
This announcement proved to be the spark. Several Jigawa delegates, in a
swift and vocal protest, stormed the stage. They vehemently blocked the
designated individual from speaking, insisting that they would not be
represented by the names put forward. As the confrontation rapidly escalated,
quick-thinking security personnel including members of the Nigerian Police, the
DSS, and private guards immediately formed a protective barrier around key
figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and others, ensuring their
safety amidst the unexpected turmoil.
After several tense minutes of appeals and intervention, calm was
eventually restored. The situation was diffused when Mustapha Lamido, son of
former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, alongside another delegate, was
ultimately chosen to speak on behalf of the state, bringing a temporary
resolution to the dramatic standoff.
This incident offers a vivid glimpse into the often-volatile dynamics of
Nigerian politics, where even high-level meetings can quickly unravel into
public spectacles of disagreement and power plays.
