Escaped Inmate Nabbed in Lagos After Public Tip-Off!
The long arm of the law has finally caught up to one of the inmates who
escaped from the Ilesa Correctional Centre in Osun State! In a significant win
for law enforcement, the Lagos State Police Command has successfully
apprehended 39-year-old fugitive Kabiru Oyedun.
Oyedun's freedom came to an end on Wednesday, May 21st, around 5:35 p.m.,
when he was cornered in the Oshin-Welder area of Ayobo, a bustling Lagos
suburb. His re-capture was a direct result of effective community policing and
public vigilance.
According to a police source from Lagos Zone 2 Police Headquarters,
Onikan, the breakthrough came after an alert member of the public sighted the
escaped inmate and promptly tipped off the authorities. "A team of
police detectives was swiftly mobilised to the area and successfully
apprehended the suspect without incident,” the source confirmed.
This successful operation underscores the critical role that citizens
play in maintaining security and ensuring that justice is served. The Lagos
State Comptroller of Corrections has already been contacted and is expected to
take custody of Oyedun, facilitating his onward transfer back to the Osun State
Correctional Service for further action.
This arrest sends a clear message: once a fugitive, always a target. Our
communities are vigilant, and our security forces are relentless.
