Launch Flop: Kim Jong-un Watches in Fury as North Korea's New Warship Capsizes!
Even supreme leaders have bad days at work, and for North Korea's Kim
Jong-un, Wednesday was apparently a disaster of epic proportions. Reports are
swirling that a brand-new North Korean naval destroyer capsized and sank right
before his very eyes during its launch ceremony, leaving the notoriously stern
leader in a volcanic rage.
According to Mail Online, the 5,000-ton warship suffered severe damage
after a botched launch, a spectacle witnessed firsthand by a horrified Kim
Jong-un. His reaction? He reportedly branded the incident a "criminal
act caused by absolute carelessness" that simply "could not be
tolerated."
Adding to the pressure, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA)
confirmed the "serious accident" and stated that Kim has
demanded the destroyer be fully restored before a crucial party meeting in
June. The details released by KCNA paint a picture of sheer incompetence:
"Due to immature command and operational negligence, the parallel movement
of the bogies could not be guaranteed, resulting in the launching sled in the
stern detaching first and causing the ship to capsize." The damage was
so severe that the "ship's balance was destroyed due to a rupture in the
hull," and the bow couldn't even detach properly.
Kim Jong-un's response was predictably fiery. He called it a "serious
accident and criminal act" born of "pure carelessness,
irresponsibility, and unscientific empiricism." The restoration isn't
just about fixing a ship; it's a matter of national pride and his own authority.
"It must be completed unconditionally before the June plenary session of
the Central Committee of the Party," he declared.
Interestingly, this ill-fated vessel appears to be in the same class as
the 5,000-ton destroyer Choi Hyun-ho, which North Korea proudly launched just
last month. A ruling party secretary even boasted that this now-sunken ship was
equipped with "the most powerful weapons" and built remarkably
quickly.
From Lagos to Pyongyang, the image of a brand-new warship capsizing
during its grand debut is certainly one for the books. What do you think this
mishap signifies for North Korea's military ambitions?
