Lojay's Wise Words: Keeping It Professional in the Face of Award Show Wins or Losses
The recent drama surrounding
artists' reactions to not winning at award shows has been a trending topic, and
Nigerian music sensation Lojay has now weighed in with a strong call for
professionalism. Speaking on HipTV’s “Trending,” the
"Monalisa" crooner offered a seasoned perspective on handling
disappointment in the competitive music industry.
Lojay acknowledged that it's "normal
to feel some type of way" after losing out on an award. Emotions run
high, especially when passion and hard work are invested. However, he quickly
pivoted to the core of his advice: "I just feel like at the end of the
day, you’re meant to be a professional artist, so don’t let your emotions take
control."
His comments come hot on the heels
of the 17th Headies Awards, an event that saw a few stars express their
displeasure quite publicly after not taking home a coveted plaque. Notably,
even Shallipopi, who actually secured an award, still took to social media to
vent his frustration, going as far as vowing never to attend the ceremony
again.
Lojay, however, believes such
reactions miss the mark. He firmly stated, "I don’t think it makes
sense to start trashing an award show just because you did not win." His
stance champions a more mature and composed approach to industry recognition,
suggesting that even in moments of perceived injustice, maintaining a
professional demeanor is paramount.
In a creative landscape driven by
public perception and industry respect, Lojay's advice serves as a timely
reminder that while passion is key, grace in both victory and defeat speaks
volumes about an artist's character.
