2027 Presidency: APC Governors Adopt Tinubu as Sole Candidate
The race for the 2027 presidential election just got a powerful early
declaration! In a major political move, the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF)
has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole candidate of
the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming polls.
The landmark announcement came from Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State,
who chairs the forum, during an APC summit held today, Thursday, May 22nd, in
Nigeria's capital, Abuja. Speaking with conviction on behalf of the APC
governors, Uzodimma asserted that this unanimous decision was rooted in a
belief that Tinubu's leadership is indispensable for Nigeria's accelerated
progress and prosperity.
“That for Nigeria to get to her destination faster in prosperity, that
the president should be used and adopted as our flag bearer for 2027
presidential election, for a second term in office,” Governor Uzodimma declared, leaving no room
for ambiguity.
The motion received swift and strong support from Governor Uba Sani of
Kaduna State, who enthusiastically seconded the endorsement. Sani expressed his
unwavering confidence in President Tinubu's leadership, pledging the forum's
full backing. “I rise to second the motion as ably moved by the chairman of
Progressives Governors Forum... that this August gathering pass a vote of
confidence on our able and amiable president, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a
sole candidate of APC come 2027 general election,” Sani affirmed.
This powerful endorsement follows a similar vote of confidence passed
just yesterday, Wednesday, May 21st, by APC governors from the North-Central
geopolitical zone. It signals a unified front within the party, setting the
stage for what promises to be an intriguing political landscape as 2027 draws
closer.
