Bayelsa Governor Suspends Paramount Ruler Over Sons' Alleged Cult Ties!
Bayelsa State is taking an uncompromising stance against cultism, and
Governor Senator Douye Diri has just delivered a powerful message by suspending
a Paramount Ruler whose sons are allegedly involved in the criminal activities.
HRH Wilcox Seiyefa Job of Swali Community, Yenagoa, has been immediately
relieved of his duties, effective today.
The Governor's directive, communicated through the Commissioners for
Information and Chieftaincy, highlights a critical failure of leadership. The
statement explicitly cited the ruler's "inability to show leadership
expected of his position in the fight against crime and cultism amidst credible
intelligence that two of his sons are involved in cult activities in the
community."
This action comes amidst a troubling upsurge in cult-related violence
and killings that have plagued Swali Community, making the Governor's decisive
response all the more significant. It signals that traditional titles will not
serve as shields for criminal behavior, especially when it originates within
the very house expected to uphold peace.
To further tighten the noose on cult activities, the Governor has
ordered the Commissioner of Police to declare the two royal sons and all others
implicated in cultism in Swali wanted, with instructions for immediate arrest,
investigation, and prosecution.
This bold move by Governor Diri showcases a clear commitment to
restoring law and order and ensuring that no one, irrespective of their
societal standing, can undermine community safety through criminal
affiliations.
Do you believe this suspension will serve as a strong deterrent against
cultism in Bayelsa and beyond?
