Edo Police Nab 50-Year-Old Driver Over Alleged S£xual Assault on 15-Year-Old Girl
A swift response from the Edo State Police Command has led to the arrest
of 50-year-old Mohammed Ihuenuma, who is accused of the s£xual assault of a
15-year-old girl in Benin City. This case underscores the police's dedication
to protecting minors and their strong message for the public to report all
forms of abuse.
Ihuenuma, identified as an official driver for a Special Adviser to the
Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo, was taken into custody after the victim's
father bravely brought the allegations to the police's attention.
The allegations suggest that the suspect regularly sought opportunities
to make inappropriate advances towards the teenager, who lived with her
parents. It's reported that he had, on multiple occasions, touched the girl in
an indecent manner, attempting to entice her.
After enduring these alleged incidents, the girl courageously reported
the matter to her mother, who then informed her father. This chain of
communication directly led to the suspect's arrest by the authorities.
CSP Moses Yamu, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the
arrest, stating that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted, and the
suspect will be charged to court. Yamu emphasized the importance of public
cooperation, urging everyone to "always report cases of r@pe, indecent
assault and defilement to the police for immediate action."
This incident is a grim reminder that vigilance is crucial. The Edo
Police Command's swift action sends a clear signal that alleged acts of s£xual
assault against children will be met with zero tolerance and full legal
consequences.
