“Dike si mba Anambra”: Tinubu Bags Chieftaincy Title During Anambra Visit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was
given a hero’s welcome in Anambra State as traditional rulers from all 179
communities jointly honoured him with the chieftaincy title “Dike si mba
Anambra” “Warrior from the Diaspora” during his one-day working visit to
the southeastern state.
The conferment took place on Thursday
8, May at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, with the Chairman of Anambra State
Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Ogalagidi, Eze Iweka III),
leading the royal ceremony.
According to Igwe Iweka, the title
is a tribute to Tinubu’s “national impact” and recognition of his
administration’s efforts to touch all regions through infrastructure and
governance.
“With your efforts, we’ve seen
critical infrastructure like the Second Niger Bridge and key connecting roads
take shape. You have not left our communities behind,” the monarch said. “This
title reflects our collective respect and appreciation from all corners of
Anambra.”
President Tinubu, visibly touched,
thanked the traditional institution for the rare honour and spoke about the
importance of unity across Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and cultural lines.
“Our diversity should be our
strength, not a weakness. Together, we must turn it into prosperity. This
honour will remain one of the most memorable moments of my presidency,” he
stated.
Tinubu’s visit wasn’t all ceremony.
He was in Anambra to commission several major projects completed under Governor
Chukwuma Soludo’s administration a symbolic nod to federal-state collaboration.
Among the projects unveiled were: The
brand-new State Government House, the upgraded Governor’s Lodge, the Solution
Fun City, the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy and
key facilities at UNIZIK, Awka.
The event drew a heavy lineup of
national figures, including, NSA Nuhu Ribadu, Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun),
Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Alex Otti (Abia), and Peter Mbah (Enugu) and Minister of
Works, Dave Umahi.
