VeryDarkMan’s Arrest Raises Eyebrows as EFCC Gives No Clear Reason — Lawyer Speaks Out

 

The drama surrounding the arrest of outspoken social media critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), continues to unfold, with his legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju, revealing new twists that have left many Nigerians demanding answers.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle late last night, Adeyanju stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has yet to provide a formal reason for detaining his client. Even more surprising, he claimed that the agency admitted there is no official petition currently filed against VDM.

“EFCC has told me categorically that there’s no petition against VDM, yet they continue to hold him without any justification,” Adeyanju wrote.

The revelation has sparked renewed criticism of the EFCC, with many seeing the arrest as part of a broader pattern of silencing dissenting voices in Nigeria’s digital space.
