Breaking News: VeryDarkMan Arrested in Abuja

 

Popular Nigerian social media personality and outspoken commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Abuja.

The controversial figure, known for calling out social injustice and demanding accountability online, was reportedly picked up by law enforcement while at a GTBank branch in the capital city.

The news was confirmed by his legal representative, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, who took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, May 2, to raise the alarm over the incident.

“JUST IN: VDM arrested by the police at GTB. Spoke to them before he was arrested. This is absolutely unacceptable. Demanding accountability is not a crime,” Adeyanju posted.

The exact reason behind the arrest remains unclear as of the time of reporting, but Adeyanju’s statement suggests it may be connected to VDM’s bold and often polarizing commentary on social and political issues in Nigeria.

VeryDarkMan has grown a massive following online for his fearless takes, often diving into controversial topics involving celebrities, public officials, and societal issues. His supporters view him as a digital crusader for truth; his critics, however, accuse him of being too confrontational.

While public reaction to his arrest is still unfolding, many Nigerians on social media have begun demanding his immediate release, with hashtags beginning to trend in support.

VDM’s legal team has vowed to challenge what they describe as a violation of his rights. As of now, no official police statement has been issued on the matter.
