"Marriage Money: FG Generates N2.4b from Tying The Knot in 2024

The Federal Government has announced it generated approximately N2.4 billion in 2024 from marriage contracts processed through the Ministry of Interior's marriage registry.

This was revealed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during a press conference held in Abuja on January 28.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also reported that the ministry generated over N3.2 billion from expatriate quota applications, marking a 150 percent increase in overall revenue.

Additionally, the minister disclosed that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) repatriated 828 foreigners to their respective countries in 2024. While he did not specify the offences of those repatriated, he confirmed that the action was carried out as part of the ministry's operations.
