Late on Sunday, January 26, 2025, Nigerian music legend Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as Tuface, took to Instagram to dismiss hacking rumors, affirming that he has indeed separated from his wife, Annie Macaulay.

Earlier, Tuface announced their separation in a post on his official Instagram page, adding that he would soon issue a press release to address the matter

Minutes later, the post was deleted and replaced with a claim that his account had been hacked. However, Tuface soon went live on Instagram to clarify the situation, confirming the news of the separation.

Tuface and Annie Idibia’s love story began long before the spotlight found them. Annie, just 15 at the time, met Tuface, then 24, starting a bond that would later capture the hearts of many Nigerians. However, their relationship was far from a fairytale. Despite their deep connection, it became a journey marked by challenges, including infidelity and allegations of emotional abuse.

Annie carved a niche for herself in Nollywood, captivating audiences with her acting prowess and securing roles in numerous films. Yet, after her relationship with Tuface became public, her presence in the film industry waned as she became more recognized as the music star’s partner.

Their union endured a series of public controversies, notably Annie’s protracted feud with Tuface’s baby mama, Pero Adeniyi. This ongoing conflict frequently spilled onto social media, igniting debates about the stability of their marriage.

Their romance, however, persisted against the odds. Tuface proposed to Annie on Valentine’s Day in 2012, and the couple tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony in Dubai in 2013, solidifying their status as one of Nigeria’s most iconic power couples. Together, they share two daughters, Isabella and Olivia, while Tuface has five other children from previous relationships.

The couple’s challenges became increasingly public in September 2021, when Annie took to Instagram to reveal the emotional abuse she had endured and express her frustrations over Tuface’s relationship with Pero Adeniyi.

In a leaked audiotape that went viral, Annie expressed her anger after discovering Tuface had traveled to see Pero. Her heated comments hinted at the emotional toll their relationship had taken. However, just two months later, Annie extended an olive branch during her 37th birthday, apologizing to Tuface and others she felt she had wronged.
